BSc Business Computing
This interdisciplinary degree blends the broad spectrum of Information Technologies, (electronic offices programming, databases, and the internet) along with the core areas of Business, (management accounting, marketing and management economics, law and finance). Graduates will have the knowledge and skills required to analyze the needs of information and understand the business functions in order to design information systems.
Through a mix of theory and hands-on experience You’ll gain the ability to be able to discern a dynamic combination of processes that enable information delivery systems to perform their tasks within an organisation. You’ll also learn to recognise that an organisation is always evolving and changing, and how the information systems of that organisation must be able to adapt to these changes as well as new demands from users.
You will develop your IT and computing skills during your second year through workshops and projects. Our faculty members will share their knowledge of research with you, and you’ll have the chance to take part in an industrial placement year, where you’ll be able to put the new skills you’ve learned in a working environment.
Our teaching is influenced by the latest technological developments and is focused on integrating the latest technologies to business contexts. You can choose from a range of subjects, including Big Data Analytics and Informatics Strategy and Management, as along with e-Business Technology. The course is supplemented by regular guest speakers from the top companies who help demonstrate the practical application of the subject that you’re studying and the opportunities for our graduates.
